The time will come when, with elation, you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror, and each will smile at the other's welcome, And say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was yourself. Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ignored for another, who knows you by heart. Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life. (Derek Walcott)
I LOVE THIS!
I couldn't have found anything more beautiful and profound than these words. I want to share them with my wonderful friends who have found Love in each other and want to scream it to the whole world by entering the entity we call marriage. Salute to Denae and Kingsley, Jamie and Zebs, Makgano and Perditta on their engagement, to wonderful Glynie on finding out that she is expecting her first child with Llewelyn and to Lebo for always knowing what to say to me. Let love follow you and may you never forget your true love, YOUR SELF!
